SUMMARY:Survivor Contest
DESCRIPTION:2026 Survivor Contest and Ice Cream Social \nThe Games Committee thanks Maryann Little for running an Ice Cream Social with this event to add to the enjoyment of this informal Saturday afternoon event. All profits to go to the club. No registration is required. Just show up before the tag deadline for the draw.  The game will be speeded up this year by removing at least 2 bowls rather than one at every end. A summary of the event is: \nDate: Saturday\, August 1 \nTag Deadline: 1:15 PM \nGame start: 1:30 PM est \nApparel: club dress standards but club colours are not required \nFee: none \nIce Cream cone charge: $3.00 \nPrizes: modest prizes for top 2 finishers \nFun: unlimited \nBasic Idea: Teams are selected by random draw. The size of the teams and the number of bowls per player is at the discretion of the Drawmaster. Bowls are removed from play if thrown out of bounds or the two furthest from the jack. The last player with a bowl or bowls left is the Survivor. Round(s) of successive Survivors compete until only one is left. The full set of rules is given below and the complexity of immunity beads is added as a twist. \nPlayers who are removed from play can enjoy the action\, play something on another empty rink and of course have an ice cream cone. \nFull Rules: \nImmunity beads are provided for each rink. \nAt the conclusion of each end the two furthest bowls from the jack shall have those bowls removed from further play. Any bowl that comes to rest outside of the boundaries of the rink shall also be removed. \nIf a player hits the jack with their delivered bowl\, that player shall be awarded the immunity beads\, but if a subsequent player hits the jack\, then the first player must give up the beads to that player. A jack knocked out of bounds shall be placed at the two metre mark and play shall continue. \nThe immunity beads may be used by the holding player to retain a bowl that is furthest from the jack…but may not be used to retain an out of bounds bowl. \nThe order of play shall be first name alphabetical in the first end. In subsequent rounds the player who’s bowl lies closest to the jack after every player has delivered their bowls shall lead off the next round to be followed by the same bowlers who followed this person and continuing to the start of the alphabetical sequence as required. \nIf a player who holds the beads has the furthest bowl from the jack claims immunity\, the second furthest bowl shall be removed from play. Once immunity is claimed\, the beads must be released. \nJacks may be set by dropping at the discretion of the “closest to the jack” player or by rolling it conventionally.

SUMMARY:Outdoor Pizza Draw
DESCRIPTION:This is a weekly social event with summer and winter programs open to all members. Games start at 4 pm and dinner is served at 6 pm – usually a shared-cost pizza with a small side salad and occasionally a special menu prepared in-house at a low cost.  Any profit is applied to projects of value to all members.  Good weather games consist of outdoor bowling from the draw board.  In poor weather members play short mat (when carpets are laid) or card and board games.  Most popular currently are;  Crib\, Euchre\, Kings in the Corner\, Five Crowns and SkipBo.  Members wishing to learn a new game are most welcome.  Bring your own beverage and if the menu offered does’t suit\, bring your own food.  If you want pizza you need to sign up by 4 and if  you want a special menu meal when offered you must pre-register.  This has been a popular event for many years so come out and enjoy some quality time with fellow members.

DESCRIPTION:This event runs throughout the season. It is for competitive player development and it uses a Scotch Pairs format. Participants shall have a minimum of one year playing experience as a lead and an awareness of the duties of the vice-skip and skip. A dress code is in effect (whites or club colours including the club shirt). There is a strict observance of game rules and sportsmanship. This not a registered event. A minimum of 10 games played is required to qualify for the Captain’s Cup award. Arrive by 9:00 AM to get your equipment ready\, help with preparing the rinks and putting up your tag. SUMMARY:Gunn Tournament - Mixed Triples
DESCRIPTION:One of our early members and past president of the club\, the very dignified and classy lady of Scottish persuasion (see her photograph in the past presidents’ gallery) Nancy Williamson introduced this tournament to honour the memory of her husband Andrew a fellow Scot and proud member of the clan Gunn.  The clan has an extensive and rich history with members spread out to many parts of the world from its centre in the northern Highlands of Scotland.  Its moto translates to “You’re either with us or against us”.  No grey area with these lads. \nThe tournament is Mixed Triples with a random draw for teams; a three game draw and a 2 game playoff for all players. SUMMARY:Captain's Cup
DESCRIPTION:This event runs throughout the season. It is for competitive player development and it uses a Scotch Pairs format. Participants shall have a minimum of one year playing experience as a lead and an awareness of the duties of the vice-skip and skip. A dress code is in effect (whites or club colours including the club shirt). There is a strict observance of game rules and sportsmanship. This not a registered event. A minimum of 10 games played is required to qualify for the Captain’s Cup award. Arrive by 9:00 AM to get your equipment ready\, help with preparing the rinks and putting up your tag.
