You are encouraged to wear Canadian colours and this is one of the rare occasions to wear Red on the Green (a colour usually reserved for umpires).
Founders Women’s and Men’s Pairs
Once upon a time in the kitchen of a small modest home in Sidney a group of six citizens from varying backgrounds and job experiences joined hands and minds to one objective – create from nothing a bowling green in Sidney. In mere months the idea blossomed into a plan with real potential and thus through hard and determined work, it came to pass that the Sidney Lawn Bowling was transformed from an idea into a reality. The original six; The Founders, stand recognized by plaques displayed in both the trophy room and the assembly room and annually are paid homage by two annual club tournaments, the Women’s Founders and the Men’s Founders. Both are pairs competitions conducted separately but run at the same time.

Gunn Tournament
One of our early members and past president of the club, the very dignified and classy lady of Scottish persuasion (see her photograph in the past presidents’ gallery) Nancy Williamson introduced this tournament to honour the memory of her husband Andrew a fellow Scot and proud member of the clan Gunn. The clan has an extensive and rich history with members spread out to many parts of the world from its centre in the northern Highlands of Scotland. Its moto translates to “You’re either with us or against us”. No grey area with these lads. The tournament is Triples run over two days.
Pirate Party
This is an opportunity to have a fun day dressed up in your preferred pirate costume. There will be pirate themed food, “grog” and some swag prizes. Of course there will be a mixed draw and plenty of time to parlay with your fellow looters and damsels in distress.

An annual tournament that pits the women bowlers of the club against the men bowlers of the club in a tournament where no holds are bared (well, maybe some). Costumes are encouraged. Always very competitive and great fun….

Year End Event
To celebrate our bowling year we come dressed in club colors or whites. A fun game or two is followed by a draw, possibly split in two parts to accommodate all. A social time leads into a light dinner. And then to the sound of a piper members will parade around the green and witness the lowering of flags to signify the end of yet another outdoor bowling season.
